The flat gate valve is characterized by small flow resistance. Since the wedge slides on two valve seat surfaces, the flat gate valve is also suitable for fluids with suspended particles.
Double block discharge function: When the valve is opened or closed, the medium from upstream and downstream will not leak from the valve cavity, which is convenient for the cavity discharge and leak detection.
Fire protection design: When the O-ring and PTFE are burned, the wedge and the holder, the holder and the valve body form a metal seal under the action of fluid pressure, so as to isolate the fluid. In addition, the flange gasket and packing are made of graphite and metal to prevent leakage.
Self-pressure relief function: when the middle chamber pressure is high, the fixator will be pressed back under the action of the middle chamber fluid, so as to avoid accidents caused by high middle chamber pressure.
However, the operation mode of flat gate valve limits its application:
① When the medium pressure is low, the sealing force of metal sealing surface is insufficient to achieve satisfactory sealing effect.
② Frequent operation of the valve may cause excessive wear of the sealing surface. Flat gate valves are usually suitable for infrequent operation.
③ The guide wedge and wedge element of the flat gate valve are loosely connected, which is easy to produce strong vibration when cutting off high-speed and high-density fluid.
④The flat valve is sensitive to the flow control only when the circular wedge moving transversely in the circular flow channel is between 50% of the valve closed position and the full closed position. Therefore, the flat gate valve is usually only used as the on-off valve.
